Unlike stocks, price of an option can move 5 to 15 % within seconds. Exiting at the right moment is critical. When traders see enough PnL, they exit trade at the best market price.

PROBLEM IS THAT IT TAKES

3 steps to exit a time critical position

Exiting a trade on Groww takes users through an order flow. They need to open the order card, select the price, and choose the quantity. 😢

In reality, most traders don’t need all that:

  • 85% of exit orders are placed at market price using the full quantity.

  • 95% of daily transacting users don’t edit quantity while exiting.

  • 30% of users use the Exit All feature to close trades quickly.P

Time to exit trades eats into the profits. App starts to feel slow. 🐌

“While placing option order at market price it’s refreshing price then got submitted between this period loss or profit got effected on exit

“Exit one click pe honi chahiye aur entry bhi”

“Exit feels laggy during high market volaltiliy. Too much loss no instant exit option”

“As a trader, when I see profit of ₹1,000, I want to exit my trade. Since it takes multiple steps to do this on Groww my profit booked is less. 😢

NPS SURVEY • NOV’25

How might we, allow one-click trade exits while monitoring PnL to create a sense of speed? 🤔

EXPLORATION (A) • DISCARDED

Replacing Exit all with Fast Exit

Exit All lets users close multiple positions at once. An optional Fast Exit, can be enabled via settings, to close all trades on market price with one tap.

Exit all default

Selective exit

Fast Exit enabled

All trades exited

Every trade is unique and may be exited at different times.

  • No selective exit: Users can’t exit specific trades; all positions are closed at once.

  • Hidden discovery: Placing Fast Exit in settings may lower adoption, despite it meeting the needs of 50% of traders.

  • Accidental click risk: Upfront destructive actions increase the chance of accidental clicks, posing a UX concern.

Place Fast Exit in bottom sheet, with other trade actions like stoploss, target, or viewing trade details.

Contextual grouping

Painful if user wants to exit 2/6 trades quickly

  1. Fast Exit takes two clicks, adding a 1–2 second delay that can impact trade speed.

  2. Returns are hidden during exit, reducing visibility at a key decision moment.

Fast Exit should be upfront, yet layered.
Designed to take action on individual trades.
Elegant & simple 🌼

SOLUTION

Fast Exit on Positions

Each position has a Fast Exit button, users close trades individually with clear returns & reduced slippage.

Layered yet upfront

Swipe would have been an obvious choice, but it’s already
used as the gesture for switching tabs.

Swipe gestures are common for quick actions in apps like WhatsApp and Gmail, but in Groww App, swipe is used for tab navigation. So, we chose tapping the right side of the list item to reveal Fast Exit as the next best alternative.

SOLUTION

Fast Exit on Web

Pro traders track many positions at once, web uses a compact layout for scanning. Key actions are always visible, Fast Exit is an icon-button on each position, letting traders exit instantly for speed & convenience.

Current UI

Checkbox removed to save on space. Most trades are delivery trades hence that info can be brought down in hierarchy

UI with Fast Exit

When the user hovers on a list item they see the button for Fast Exit. When user hovers on the Fast Exit button it turns red to show trade will be sold.

SOLUTION

Fast Exit on Trading Terminal

Groww Terminal lets traders see charts, live trades, and the option chain together. Fast Exit is built into this view, so traders can act instantly while analyzing candlestick charts—no need to switch screens.

Fast Exit fails for order with high quantity

Orders up to 1,500 qty execute smoothly, but bigger orders, like 15,000 qty can face heavy slippage, reducing profits from +₹100,000 to +₹60,000. To improve execution, we split large orders into smaller slices.

Users started asking for a Fast Re-entry

This showed us the need for faster actions. Adding a one-click re-entry option would let traders quickly jump back into the same trade.

“I love working on the Groww app. Its easy entry, quick exit, multiple order options, and clear profit/loss controls make trading smooth—these features are what traders appreciate most.”
